Expecting robertmkerns.com?
I registered the domain name valthon.net during the early days of the Internet, back when the only domain suffixes were .com, .org, .net, .gov, and maybe .biz…as in around 2001 – 2003. Among the myriad arcana Google uses to determine search ranking, age of the domain is one of the weightier factors (according to my last information). I didn’t ever think about registering robertmkerns.com for my novels until I actually published a novel.
2001 – 2003 vs. 2018? Yeah…it was a no brainer for me, even though it might end up conflicting with my brand. I’m still learning the whole brand/marketing thing, and I haven’t decided whether my brand is going to be me (as in the human Robert M. Kerns) or Knightsfall Press (the publishing company I founded to publish my novels). Since I don’t ever anticipate publishing anyone else’s novels, I’m heavily leaning toward my brand being me, so why not use the already-established domain?
I apologize for any confusion or concern you may have experienced regarding the web address. Creating confusion and concern are not on my list of intentions.
